The EAP Coordinator does not provide long term therapeutic counseling, but does spend time assessing your needs from a “whole person” perspective.   The Coordinator will then recommend several resources in the community, many of which are participants in your health care provider network.  Based on those referrals, you can then work with the Coordinator and the provider in the community to address your needs.   The goal here is to get the employee/family member/retiree, back to “pre-issue” functioning, and on the road to more productive work and family life.

No issue is too large or too small.   Call the EAP Coordinator if you are experiencing:

  • Overwhelming stress
  • Feeling out of control
  • Angry, irritable, worried much of the time
  • Feeling sad, helpless, hopeless
  • Sleep problems:  too much or too little
  • Difficulties concentrating or focusing
  • Major life decisions
  • Difficulty managing daily responsibilities
  • Alcohol or drug abuse
  • The loss of a loved one or co-worker
  • Thoughts of harm to self or others
  • Chronic health issues
  • Thoughts about choosing a therapist

Relationships

  •  Friends, co-workers, family member
  • You are in a difficult relationship
  • Are ending a relationship
  • Concerned about your child’s behavior
  • Caring for an aging or chronically ill loved one

Workplace Issues

  • Difficult relationships with co-workers

The UB EAP Coordinators are experienced in consulting and problem-solving with supervisors.   We realize that managing job concern together, with many personalities and work styles, can be very difficult.
